My First Post- UBBI DUBBI

“The rave gave us not only the escape, but proof that we could be happy for no reason at all.”

My first blog post is going to be dedicated to my first music festival that I attended! In April of 2019, I went to a 3-day festival called Ubbi Dubbi in Fort Worth, Texas! There we saw a ton of amazing artists like Borgore, Chris Lake, Svdden Death, Lucii, and Bear Grillz. These artists all create EDM music, but they have their own unique sounds. Chris Lake makes house music which I love listening to because I like to pretend that I am at the Jersey Shore with Snooki! It was so amazing to see Lucii live because I have followed her on Twitter since she was just beginning to make a name for herself and now she is one of the most well-known women in Wakaan! Seeing her blew my mind away because when you see these people on the stage it really puts into perspective that they are regular people behind the bass we love.

It was a jam-packed weekend full of dancing, singing and bonding with my friends that I went with. The group that I attended with are some of my closest friends and coworkers. The people that you choose to spend time with there can really make or break your whole experience. When it is hot, crowded, and noisy it is important to be with people that will make sure you are feeling good and not on the brink of dying from heat exhaustion. Always have a full water bag with you. At times, some of us would break off and go watch a different set but we always found a way to meet up with each other even though the place was so huge! There were thousands of people there.

The props that were set up were the neatest thing. There were lasers everywhere on and off the stage. So many places to stop and take photos and a cool pond with blow up alligators inside. My girlfriends and I needed a rest towards the end of the night so we sat down in the middle of a bunch of hammocks and then we heard what sounded like a flamethrower go off repeatedly, I looked to where the heat was coming from and there was an absolutely massive disco ball shining and shooting fire gas out of the top! I could not believe how cool everything was and how well thought out the props were, especially since it was the first annual festival! I cannot say enough good things about the show. I highly recommend attending an Ubbi Dubbi festival at some point in your life. It is something so amazing to experience.

Here I will insert a link to the official UBBI DUBBI page where you can see the lineup, dates, buy tickets and merch.

Analytics and About

When I first started my blog, I wanted to talk about something that actually interested me so that I would be less likely to create boring posts. My original plan for my blog did not go exactly how I expected. I planned to have a higher variety of topics regarding music genres, but I also only wanted to write what was on my mind at the moment. I felt that if I was forcing every post I created, it would not be interesting for anyone to read.

My main goal for my blog was for each post to be organically written, and to be very casual. It gets boring reading blogs where you can tell that the writing feels forced and not genuine.

I took this while relaxing outside, I added a clip of one of my favorite songs.

Getting into the stats, my blog’s most popular week was the week of March 22. I got eight viewers on my blog that week. The most popular post of the semester was my Rave Lookbook. I got six views on my lookbook post. I think this was my most popular post because it gave people inspiration for their own rave outfits and gave them some ideas as to where they could purchase similar clothing for themselves. I definitely appreciate other peoples lookbooks because I love being inspired by different peoples’ tastes.

I was surprised by my Site Stats data because I saw that my blog was actually getting attention. It surprised me seeing that I had views. Before this I did not want to create a blog because I felt that little to no one would care about the things I would post on my blog.

I really enjoyed this assignment and everything about my FDOM course.

Last but not least I will leave you with a link to buy tickets to Louis the Childs next show in Austin, Texas at Stubbs which will take place in July. Maybe I’ll see ya there.

Its been real.

When I first created this blog, I did not expect to enjoy creating posts as much as I did at the end. I enjoyed writing about things that I actually cared about, and I think that for my first blog ever, it was a success.

Something that I would want to improve within my site is my topic. I really enjoyed the posts I made but sometimes it was hard for me to come up with ideas for a new post. I think I could have promoted my content better by using my actual Twitter, not the one I made specifically for this class. The reason I created a new Twitter was because my main account is private because of how many people have access to public accounts.

Photo of DJ, Joyryde that I took at the Marc.

My best experience for this project was being able to talk freely without having a specific prompt where I had to make sure everything that I wrote was right on topic. I enjoyed the fluidity of the assignment. Most things I am required to write are very specific which can get boring. I think this could benefit me in the future because before this I had absolutely no idea how to create a blog, and I think that I learned a lot especially because I had to figure out how to customize it myself and be able to embed links and photos.

In the future, I can use this new skill to possibly promote a company that I am working for or collaborating with. I have even considered creating a blog where I talk about life, so that family members I do not get to see often will be able to read my content and know what I am up to. I value the information that I learned from this assignment and will miss pouring my thoughts into my keyboard.

To make this post somewhat related to the rest, I’ll include a link to my current favorite song.

Country girl, I love you

When growing up in New Braunfels, Texas, you are bound to have to listen to country music at some point in your lifetime. From when I was old enough to have my own CD’s to about 11, I loved country music, and I did not have a problem with putting a Dixie Chicks CD into my stereo.

That changed when I got to middle school and I started associating country music with certain types of behavior. After that, it was rare that I would listen to a country song and I pretended to dislike every one of them. After a few years of being disgusted by country music, I decided to give it another chance and realized that younger me had better taste than middle school me and that I hated country for no reason.

It made me realize that your music preference will always be changing, which is a good thing. No one wants to listen to the same genre all the time and being able to listen to different stuff without an issue is a good way to connect with different people. Even people that seem different from you.

Country music is not just for one specific type of people just like rap is not for a specific type either. During this time in quarantine, it is important that even though we cannot physically be with others, we should still work on keeping connections strong. You can work on connecting to other people by listening to “their type” of music and try to understand why they love it.

There is no point in being judgmental about another persons’ music, because to them it is art!

I’ll leave a link below to my favorite Dixie Chicks CD. You won’t regret listening.

Quarantine Vibes

So, as most of you know we are currently under a stay at home order due to the coronavirus. This means no shopping, no going to the gym, no going out to eat and no seeing family or friends. The point of us being quarantined at home is to avoid the spread of germs unless you are doing something that is considered “essential”. With that being said; most college students are not considered essential to most of society, so majority of us are expected to be staying indoors.

Staying in every day of the week can get really boring and draining. It is easy to feel alone when you are not getting to interact with people the way that you have every single day of your life up until this point. This is difficult when you are used to living a socially active lifestyle every day. The best way for me to cope with the extreme boredom I have been experiencing is to listen to music and make fun playlists. I have been making playlists for different people and sending them out. I feel like people really appreciate receiving playlists especially right now during such a lonely time.

Making a playlist is a good way to kill time. You can make a ridiculous amount, and no one will judge you because, quarantine. Personally, I have been making playlists of songs that relax me. I do not have a specific genre of music that I listen to when I want to relax, so the genres of playlists I have been creating have been over the place. I use Spotify to make my playlists because it is super easy to move songs around and the app will recommend songs for you based off of ones you have listened to. Spotify is also only $5 for students so I’ll leave the link at the bottom!

I took this picture of some flowers that I saw, and added a song from one of my playlists over the image.

I am going to include a few of my all-time favorite chill songs. I hope you guys enjoy and are staying safe. We are in this together!

ILY, Kacey Musgraves.

So, my first few posts were centered around EDM, but I have a wide range of artists that I enjoy listening to. I love most genres and yes, that includes country. One of my favorite artists ever is Kacey Musgraves. Even though she is a country singer, she has a pop and very upbeat vibe to her sound. She sings about things that push the boundaries when it comes to country music. I think that is one of the reasons I admire her so much. Because she does not feel that it is necessary to write songs about what everyone else thinks would be appropriate.

Kacey is only 31 and she has won six Grammys and multiple other awards. She is so talented. I was hoping I would get to finally see her live at the Houston Rodeo, but decided that it would be best to sit this one out due to the pandemic that the world is facing. It was extremely hard for me to accept that I will not get to see her this year, but it was necessary that I put my health and the health of others first.

Even though I have not been able to watch her perform live, I follow her Twitter account where she will retweet and post videos of her singing. I can tell that she is so passionate about her music and puts her heart into the songs she writes. I feel that she is a very genuine artist and I respect that about her.

Kacey inspires me to find beauty in everything I do. Her songs touch my heart because I can relate to so many of them in different ways. She is one of my favorite singers of all time, if not my actual favorite. If you are not very familiar with her music, lets change that! I’m going to insert a list of my favorite songs from my playlist (not in order) of hers below! Enjoy.

Rave Lookbook

In this blog post I am going to cover rave outfits! Dressing up for special occasions is one of my favorite things to do, especially when it comes to raves because you are free to express yourself in any way that you would like.

The first few raves I attended, I dress based off how my friends would dress for shows and that gave me a good idea as to how I should start my raving clothing wardrobe. Everyone has their own style and it really shows when you are at a show! Some people like to dress comfy in t shirts, and then people like my friends and I like to express our individuality by wearing clothes that no one else there has on. The most important thing to remember when you are getting dressed is that you want to feel comfortable. Comfort is the most important thing when you are going to be standing in a big crowd of sweaty people for 3-4 hours.

Since I am usually on a budget- it is important that when I buy new outfits, I purchase items that can be pieced together in multiple different ways. Just because you have worn something once around a crowd does not mean that you can’t restyle the piece to look completely differently. I definitely have a few staple pieces that I circulate through my cycle of outfits. My shoes that I bought for my first festival have made it with me to every show since then! They are white sneakers with glitter on the side and they have about an inch and a half of platform which is great for short people like me who actually enjoy seeing the stage in large crowds. The sneakers will be shown in this next picture:

Top: Charlotte Russe $13.99
Biker Shorts: Aerie (online) $20.96
Fanny Pack: Charlotte Russe $6.99
White Sneakers: Forever 21 $28.00
Cat Ear Headband: Forever 21 $4.90
I am pictured on the right!
Top: Charlotte Russe $13.99
Fanny Pack: Charlotte Russe $6.99
Biker Shorts: Aerie (online) $17.46

A lot of the pieces in the last two images were repeats but I restyled them!

Black Wrap Bodysuit: NastyGal $12.00
Black Mesh Pants: NastyGal $20.00
White Sneakers: Forever 21 $28.00

Aerie has the best quality and comfiest biker shorts ever! I have so many pairs- here is where you can get your own!https://www.ae.com/us/en/c/aerie/bottoms/bike-shorts/cat300015

Blogger Friends

In this post I am going to be discussing my friends blog! I know Tristan through one of my high school friends! They are both apart of Bobcat Belles, which is a group of awesome girls at Texas State who support our football team.

Even though Tristan does not have a blog exactly similar to mine, I appreciate her posts because she and I share a lot of the same interests. Every one of her blog posts is original and inspirational. The graphics on her site are always so intricate and you can tell that she puts a lot of effort into turning it into something that reflects her own sweet personality! She has road trip playlists and talks about her life, her goals, and hobbies. It is easy for me to get super distracted with work and school, considering I am full time in both, but her blog posts remind me that it is important to use the spare time that I do have to put effort into my passions and hobbies. Some of the hobbies/passions we share are of course, dance. We also share interests in fashion, coloring, and we have similar tastes in music.

She also has a blog post about her festival experience which is right up my alley! I enjoyed reading that post and the “lookbook” that she included where she showed off her outfits and gave me inspiration for my next festival fits! She posted pictures of her outfits from every day of the festival and included where she purchased each item and how much the items costed. Which is great, especially for a college student on a budget like me. I love that her content is genuine. Her page is color coordinated perfectly to match her topics and her personality. She made me become more interested in how I can elevate my blog and make it more personalized so that when someone looks at my page they think, “Oh yes! This page screams Danielle” in the same way that I think about Tristan’s page.

Dani’s Blog

This is my first post on my new blog having everything to do with music! My name is Danielle Eve, I am 21 years old and from New Braunfels, Texas. I currently live in San Marcos, Texas where I go to school. I am a junior, studying public relations. What gets me through long weeks of class is getting a group of friends together to go to raves and concerts on the weekends…and every other break that we get from school!

Photo of me backstage with Randy Rogers and Brady Black at a private concert for my aunt’s nonprofit org!

I am excited to start this new blog about music because I plan to share some of my favorite genres and songs with you guys as well as some of my favorite tips about attending shows and festivals. I would like to do special feature blog posts for some of my all-time favorite artists where I will devote posts specifically to them and their music, genre, and performances. I hope to attract a diverse audience with this blog as in any gender, and any age. I think that anyone who enjoys music could read my posts. I believe that if I have a bigger range of readers, I will be able to expand my topics wider.

I intend to get a large range of readers by promoting my blog on different social medias such as my Twitter and Instagram! I really want to start reading other blogs that pertain to music so that I can be exposed to different types of music that other people enjoy, hopefully it’ll get me into different sounds and tastes so that I can provide more diverse content. I am not close minded when it comes to music and beats; I am open to listening to just about anything! Something else that really interests me is fashion for festivals so maybe I will include some posts about mine and my friends’ favorite outfits and accessories for concerts and festivals! Lets get into this blog!

Below I have inserted a link to one of my favorite songs by Randy Rogers band.
